After lockdown was announced on 16th March 2020, a surreal and confusing time had began. My tutors asked me to make a time capsule and fill it with items that creatively represent that time. My lockdown experience was odd; I was a key worker as I had a part-time job at a supermarket so I witnessed first hand the general publics' reactions to the pandemic. The pandemic had an interesting effect on my mental health as my anxiety worsened and my once very mild agoraphobia began to develop. For what felt like forever, I could not go outside even to go to the shop as I was too afraid of interacting with people, or witnessing members of the public not complying with the guidelines - those moments from what I remember from my old place of work, were especially upsetting.
In my time capsule, I included; Self Portrait that displays my personal lockdown experience; Muzzle Mask which represents the muzzle movement that involves people who think that wearing a mask is repressive and is anti-government; Line of Protesters - each person and sign represents different protests that have happened over lockdown - anti-lockdown protests, BLM protests and countries around the world protesting their corrupt governments; Drawing of a photograph by ... featuring a Covid-19 sign in wild fire; Three 3D models that represent the lack of seriousness, and the general feelings surrounding Covid-19 - Bleach Drink, Bat Soup and Closed Sign; Lino prints to show new techniques learned over lockdown; and a sketchbook that documents my thoughts.
